Today we headed up to CSU for Newton's 9 month post-amputation check-up. I can't believe how quickly time flies. His check-up included blood work and a chest x-ray.

Dr. Lana was the Oncologist that saw Newton today. She is also the Oncologist who is doing the Gene Therapy Trial. Newton got a clean bill of health. His blood work looked good and his chest x-rays are clear. I'm so excited. I think that Newton is going to beat this.

There isn't a day that goes by when I am not impressed by how strong Newton has gotten since his amputation. He is my miracle boy. My boyfriend, Scott, lives in the country with lots of critters. Newton loves coming to Scott's house. There are loads of bunnies and deer to chase. Not to mention all of the birds that love to torment him.

Since Newton has a habit of wandering too far when he is not on a leash (and of course he doesn't want to listen), we had to implement a "Newton on a leash" policy whenever he goes outside. Today, I was shocked by his strength. Newton saw a couple of bunnies and decided to take off running. Snap...the leash snapped in half and off Newton went. Man, my boy is strong!!!

My brother, Scott, was in town for the week for training for his job with the VA. He decided to stay over the weekend so that we could spend some time together. We decided to go to New Belgium Brewery as the highlight of our visit.

Last year when my brother came to Denver for training was when Newton started limping and our journey began.

My sister, Jenny, and Ronnie B came to Denver to help me celebrate one of my favorite holidays...the 4th of July. Fireworks are one of my favorite things to watch.

Newton was in a happy mood because not only were Jenny and Ronnie B here, but we decided to have a BBQ. Laura, Kristin, Chance, Tyler, and Bryce all came over to help us celebrate. We had good food, shot off fireworks, and roasted marshmallows. I always thought that Newton would be a marshmallow guy...not so much
